Randolph County HOFNOD Expo
Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs
Supported by the Mountaineer Chapter IWLA
About the Event
The Randolph County “Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs” (HOFNOD) Expo is an annual community event focused on introducing youth to fishing, conservation, and positive outdoor recreation.
The program teaches kids that the outdoors — and fishing in particular — can be a healthy, enjoyable alternative to drugs and negative influences. The Mountaineer Chapter proudly supports this event each year through volunteers, exhibits, and sponsorship.
The Expo
The HOFNOD Expo is typically held at Elkins High School and brings together thousands of youth, families, and outdoor organizations. A past event featured:
Over 2,000 registered kids and an estimated 3,500 total attendees
Free drawings for 1,000 Zebco Ready Tackle fishing combos and a lifetime fishing license
A raffle for a 10 ft. Pelican pontoon boat, complete with motor, life vests, fishing poles, and accessories
Around 70 exhibitors, each offering kid-friendly activities, hands-on learning, and prizes
Chapter Involvement
Members of the Mountaineer Chapter volunteer each year to help make the event possible. In the past, chapter members have staffed and supported:
Registration tables
Electronic and virtual fishing simulators
Concession stands
IWLA information booth
Fishing pole drawings and raffle tables
The event’s success each year depends on the dedication of volunteers, sponsors, and community members — and we are proud to be part of that ongoing tradition.
Why It Matters
The Randolph County HOFNOD Expo is one of the largest youth outreach events in the region, helping thousands of young people experience the joy of fishing and conservation in a positive, family-friendly environment.
