About the Program

Each October, during the Mountain State Forest Festival, the Mountaineer Chapter hosts its annual Sourdough Buckwheat, Pancake, and Sausage Feed. This long-standing tradition has been a highlight of our chapter for many years, drawing members, families, and the wider community together

Purpose

The Buckwheat Feed is more than just a meal — it’s a chance to:

• Celebrate community during one of West Virginia’s premier festivals

• Share in the fellowship of good food and conversation

• Provide youth with opportunities to participate in chapter activities

Youth Involvement

To encourage leadership and community service, the Boy Scout Troop 166 are invited to help with the event by:

• Serving meals

• Bussing tables

• Assisting with guests

Why It Matters

The Buckwheat Feed is one of the chapter’s most recognized community functions — combining tradition, youth involvement, and support for local organizations in a way that strengthens our bonds both within the chapter and with the public.
