3rd Annual Conservation Banquet tickets are now available!!
About the Program
As part of our commitment to conservation and community service, the Mountaineer Chapter participates in the West Virginia Adopt-A-Highway Program. Our chapter maintains approximately 11 miles of Files Creek Road & parts of Back Rd, keeping this scenic area clean and safe for travelers, residents, and wildlife.
Cleanup Schedule
Spring Cleanup – held each year as winter gives way to spring
Fall Cleanup – held each year before the winter season
These two annual cleanups ensure that litter and debris are removed regularly and the natural beauty of our area is preserved.
Who Participates
Cleanup events are carried out by chapter members with support from Boy Scout Troop 166. This partnership provides youth with a hands-on opportunity to contribute to conservation and community service.
Supplies & Safety
The chapter provides everything needed for volunteers to safely participate, including:
Safety vests
Trash bags
Gloves
Litter pickers
Most of these supplies are provided through the WV Adopt-A-Highway Program.
After the Work
While the cleanup is the main event, we also take time afterward to share a meal together — a tradition that celebrates the hard work of our volunteers and strengthens our chapter community.
